Our story

The renovation industry hasn't been kind to homeowners. We're changing that.

Hong Kong renovations are run on WhatsApp threads, paper drawings, and trust. When trust breaks, there's no record. When something gets missed, there's no audit trail. When payment is disputed, both sides reach for screenshots. RenovaGuard exists because every homeowner deserves a renovation that's documented, transparent, and rooted in evidence — not memory.

The problems we kept seeing

  • "Where did this photo come from?" — Builders snap progress photos that lose context the moment they're sent. Was that the master bathroom or the guest bathroom? North wall or south? Six weeks later no one remembers.
  • "I never agreed to that variation." — Verbal change orders. Inflated final invoices. Owners discovering scope creep only when payment is demanded.
  • "The inspector signed off — verbally." — No checklist. No findings record. No photographic evidence of what was checked. The next milestone proceeds, and concealed work is buried under tile.
  • "The defect was fixed — trust me." — Without a rectification log, defects close on the builder's word. Owners verify months later when they actually move in.
  • "I just sent you that drawing on WhatsApp last week." — Critical drawings live in personal chats, scattered across messages, sometimes deleted by accident. Nobody owns the master record.

What RenovaGuard does about it

  • One workspace per project. Schedule, photos, drawings, defects, inspections, chat — all in one place, with the same audit trail visible to homeowner, builder, designer and inspector.
  • Photos pinned to the floor plan. Every photo has a location. The lightbox shows the exact spot it was taken. Context never gets lost.
  • Variations with paper trails. Proposed in writing. Approved or rejected with a timestamp. Cost and time impact captured. Final invoice is never a surprise.
  • Trade-specific inspection checklists. 14 HK-specific checklists — towngas tightness, hollow-tile tap test, RCD trip, 24-hour flood test, registered electrical worker sign-off. Each item: pass / fail / N/A, with notes and floor-plan pins.
  • Defect rectification with proof. Builder logs what they did. Reporter verifies. Both sides have a record.
  • Standardised workflows. The same gates apply to every project. The same evidence is required at every milestone. No shortcuts, no surprises.

Where we're going

The construction industry is at a turning point. Labour costs are rising. Material costs are volatile. The Hong Kong government is leading on modular housing and DfMA in the Northern Metropolis. Standardisation is no longer a future trend — it's already here.

RenovaGuard is built for that future. Standard workflows. Standard inspections. Standard records. AI-assisted task generation, intelligent defect classification, and automated progress tracking — coming over the next twelve months — make the platform progressively smarter while keeping the bar consistent across every project on it.

We're starting in Hong Kong because we know it best. The same problems exist everywhere residential renovation happens. We'll go where the homeowners need us.
